Jewell students to participate in ‘One Homeless Night’ event

William Jewell College students will get a sense of what it’s like to be homeless when they participate in One Homeless Night on October 27, sponsored by the College’s chapter of the National Leadership Association and Skip-A-Meal, in partnership with Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE). William Jewell’s event will be held on the quadrangle on the Liberty, Mo., campus beginning at approximately 10:30 p.m.

 

According to Synergy Services, more than 2,000 of the community’s youth are homeless on any given night. The One Homeless Night event gives young people a chance to experience homelessness for one night, while at the same time providing critical help.

 

Proceeds from the event support youth programs at Synergy Services. The agency has been addressing youth homelessness since 1971 with shelter and other supportive services. Through a full spectrum of programs for children, youth and adults, Synergy strives to overcome violence in the community. The agency reaches nearly 40,000 people metro-wide through emergency and transitional shelter; counseling and mental health services; community education programs and legal advocacy.
