Troy Green receives Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award

Troy Green, biology major, was one of six students in the nation to receive the David S. Bruce Excellence in Undergraduate Research Award at the Experimental Biology Meeting in San Diego on April 22. He was eligible after receiving the David S. Bruce Outstanding Undergraduate Abstract Award. Troy won the award after an interview and oral presentation of his poster entitled, “Direct hypertrophic effects of fibroblast growth factor 23 on cardiomyocytes.” He also was chosen to provide an oral presentation of his group’s research in the peer-reviewed session of the American Physiological Society on April 25. Troy’s research has involved collaboration with Dr. Lori Wetmore, associate professor of chemistry, and Dr. Michael Wacker at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Muscle Biology Research Group.
